Many of the materials used in the making of The Couture Doll Bed linens are from the design trade for the residential market. F. Schumacher and Co. is a maker and distributor of some of the finest textiles and as a favorite of the designer, Schumacher fabrics are in many of the pieces for shams, coverlets and dust ruffles.
Because all prints and colors will vary, the designer is always perusing textile markets looking for the best fabrics to create the next original. Fabrics from the garment trade and design trade are often used together in different combinations.
Trims on coverlets and shams are from the design trade; when using trims, scale is used carefully to achieve punctuation of a line on a linen. They are coordinated carefully with each color scheme.
Each complete bed ensemble is carefully selected for color, pattern and scale using design principles and a trained eye.
Faux furs are a signature statement for the bed. Accent pillows in faux dark mink and grey chinchilla are standard and many beds come with faux fur mink comforters and throws with the grey chinchilla a necessity for some beds also.
Drawn to scale and cut patterns have been designed to match the dimensions of The Couture Doll Bed . Each fabric is thoughtfully laid out and evaluated for each cutting and design project.

At a very early age the designer was taught that a sewn piece should always present as beautiful "inside" as well as "outside" when finished. This is the constant goal for The Couture Doll Bed . Linings in shams and other pieces are used wherever necessary for the beauty and integrity of the piece.
And, when necessary, pieces are hand-sewn to provide the subtlety required for a bed garment. Each set of bed linens with its frame ensemble, has a character of its own and comes to life as each piece is completed.
No two beds are alike...
Each bed frame is outfitted in a coordinated set of linens to include:
- A pillow and mattress in off-white muslin matelasse
- A dust ruffle with gathering based on the ensemble of off-white sateen or taffeta or gingham in pattern
- A bed sheet often composed of crocheted edged linen of the finest quality or damask
- A blanket coordinated with the look of the coverlet
- The main statement piece, the coverlet with trim
- The matching sham
- Accessory to the set is the matching throw either in a wool or faux fur
- A faux fur pillow(s).
And always, if a set of linens and its combination with the frame require an additional piece to complete it, it will be there.
